I could write about all of the benefits of date nights and how it helps build connection and keeps a marriage healthy and so on and so forth...I could cite research on the benefits of dating your spouse and how it helps in the battle against divorce; how dates can rekindle romance or at least make us feel human for a few hours...but I think most of us know all of that. We know how nice it feels to sneak away with our partners, how being on dates helps us to reunite, gives us the chance to have an adult conversation, to hear what the other is feeling or thinking without the interruptions. We know this...how could we not? This topic is splashed all over the covers of magazines and the topic of numerous self-help books and I've probably read most of them. That doesn't mean I've actually made dating my husband a priority. I keep saying I'm going to do this. I have good intentions and even lists of over a hundred date night ideas; I am the queen of lists after all...but this year is going to be different. I am going to do this. I am going to turn dating my husband into a fun little project. I am going to go out on a date with him each week and I am going to document it and gosh darn it, it's going to be fun!
